BIKES OF VELO
The 1990’s of professional cycling represented a flamboyance, bright fluro kits, long mullet style haircuts, massive ego’s and the emergence of a drug called EPO. With all of these ingredients the cycling of the 1990’s was some of the best cycling ever watched. Long breakaways, sprinting trains, team tactics and new young talent were all broadcasted on our TV’s. Sprinters like Mario Cipolinni was creating a designated sprint train on his way to winning very race on the calendar. Marco Pantani was to become to next big Italian hero by winning the Giro and the TDF and Germany had created the next hope in the form of Jan Ullrich. A young brash American named Lance Armstrong had just won the world championships and the speeds of the peloton just kept on getting faster due to the accessibility of performance enhancing drugs.




CURRENT BIKES
This is my favourite era because bikes reflected their riders, the more flamboyant character the brighter the bike. Spinergy was making radical wheels, Cinelli was making aero dynamic clip ons and bike brands were playing in the carbon space Bikes of the 90’s I believe were cool and hopefully the collection I am starting to build will reflect that.
