Team Mapei

The Mapei cycling team, also known as Mapei-Quick Step, was an Italian-Belgian professional cycling team that operated from 1993 to 2002. The team was established in 1993 under the sponsorship of Mapei, an Italian manufacturer of adhesives and construction materials. The team was co-sponsored by the Belgian-based Quick Step flooring company in its later years.


Mapei was one of the most successful teams in professional cycling history, known for its dominance in both one-day classics and stage races. The team won numerous stages in Grand Tours such as the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, and Vuelta a España, as well as victories in prestigious one-day races like Paris-Roubaix, Tour of Flanders, and Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Mapei was particularly dominant in team time trials, winning multiple team time trial stages in Grand Tours and the World Championships. The team's meticulous preparation and strong teamwork contributed to its success in this discipline.


The Mapei cycling team left a lasting legacy in professional cycling, with its dominance in classics and stage races shaping the sport during its existence.
