Regarded as one of the best all around riders of his generation, “Jan” Janssen succeeded in winning everything from Grand Tour events to One-Day races.  He put Dutch riders on the map, being the first to win the coveted ‘Tour De France’ in 1968.  A hard worker and straight shooter, he earned the respect of team mates and fans alike and was described as ‘The Cycling Gentlemen’s Warrior’ who could seamlessly combine physical talent with intellect.  With his blonde locks and black rim glasses, he was easy to spot in the peloton.
